Vivo presents Nex, a truly borderless smartphone
On Tuesday, June 12, Vivo presented its new flagship, the Nex equipped
with a screen occupant, according to the Chinese manufacturer, up to
91.2% of the front panel. To save space, Vivo installed a retractable
photo module.
Last February, Vivo presented a prototype smartphone occupying more than 90% of the front façade. An ambitious project that could have remained a concept for some time. But Vivo decided to speed things up. On Tuesday, June 12, the Chinese manufacturer has formalized the sale of the terminal on its national territory. Named Vivo Nex, the smartphone has a Super Amoled slab of 6.59 inches, the ratio 19.3: 9 which occupies, according to its manufacturer, up to 91.2% of the facade. To achieve this impressive result, the Dongguan firm claims to have innovated.
Efforts to save space
The Vivo Nex front photo module is retractable. According to the manufacturer, it draws in less than one second and retracts automatically after use. Regarding the loudspeaker, Vivo uses a proprietary technology, Screen SoundCasting Technology, to propagate sound through the screen. Again, Vivo does not hesitate to promise a quality of sound admirable, "with deep bass and soft treble". Two versions of the Vivo Nex are getting ready to join the Chinese boutiques. The first, with 128 GB of storage will be sold for 4,498 yuan (596 €) while the second, with 256 GB of storage will cost 4,998 yuan (662 €). For the moment, the smartphone has not been announced outside China's borders.
